Cloudy/Misted Double Glazing Repair Should You Replace the Unit or the Whole PVC Window

If the mist is inside the glass cavity, wiping, sprays, and dehumidifiers will not remove it permanently. The sealed unit has failed.

Can you replace just the failed double glazed unit?


Yes, in many cases the failed unit can be replaced without changing the whole PVC window. This is one of the most common repair options for misted or cloudy double glazing.


The installer removes the glazing beads, takes out the old sealed unit, measures or matches the glass specification, and fits a new unit into the existing frame. The frame, handles, hinges, and outer structure remain in place.
